STRATEGIC ENGAGEMENT FOR NORDIC LIFE SCIENCES

Who I Am

Originally, I am a Southerner, a nature-loving girl from coastal Alabama who grew up believing that I could one day save our planet, cure disease, and heal the world.

These goals in mind, I began my studies at Spring Hill College in International Business & Global Entrepreneurship. Four years later, I instead walked away with a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Health Biology, followed by a Master of Health Science in Physician Assistant* (PA) Studies. As a PA, I began working at The Liver Center, a dedicated clinic within Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates, where I specialized in hepatology / gastroenterology, diagnosing and treating patients with acute & chronic liver, biliary, and digestive diseases.

In 2009, I took a leap and landed in Oslo, Norway. I fell in love with the landscapes, seasons, and cultural nuance. In those initial years, I also discovered how acutely American I am. I laugh loudly. I share my opinions openly. And I believe that saying good things about yourself or your business are essential.

In the Nordics, PAs don't exist in the health care system. Surprisingly, this has turned out to be a blessing, as being forced to think creatively about my career has opened me to a world I had not then imagined possible. In my early transition to industry, I became General Manager of Norway / Senior Vice President of Commercial & Market Strategy for AMRA Medical, a health informatics company at the forefront of medical imaging and precision medicine. Some of my roles included:

  • Business Area Lead for Metabolic & Liver therapeutic areas

  • Partnership Lead for strategic stakeholders, including academic and industry PIs, KOLs, SAB

  • FNIH (Foundation for the NIH) Metabolic Disorders Steering Committee & NIMBLE (Noninvasive Biomarkers of Metabolic Liver Disease) participant

  • Commercial Lead for corporate strategy, marketing activities & global events

  • Science-to-sales translation

  • Female leadership and management training

*In English speaking countries (US, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand), a Physician Assistant (PA) is a nationally certified / state licensed clinical practitioner who evaluates and treats patients on the medical model of a physician. Read here.

What I Do

Today, I work as a consultant across the Nordic life science ecosystem with research groups, start-ups, scale-ups, and cluster organizations.

While my activities are tailored to the needs of each client, my core services include strategy & business development, KOL or stakeholder identification & engagement, investor relations, and storytelling. Regardless of which hat I am wearing, my goal is to support convergence across sectors of our industry, within our Nordic region, and between the Nordics & the United States.

More personally, I am still the nature-loving, natural-born advocate. I believe in showing up in the service of others, in taking steps to save our planet, and in addressing health care by challenging the very things we think we know. With these beliefs in mind, I lend my time to a number of worthwhile endeavours:

  • Women in Global Health (WGH) Norway, a platform to connect, strengthen and advocate for gender equality in global health across academia, public & private sector

  • WGH Norway COVID 50/50 Task Force, which serves as a national hub for COVID-19 and gender equity action

  • Mentor for Professional Women in Norway

  • Expert Mentor for Digitalwell Ventures

  • Founder of Kampen Pride, an organisation to support the local LGBTQIA+ community
